Rebecca Lim on Embracing the Flawed Heroine + Exile Giveaway!

Rebecca Lim on Embracing the Flawed Heroine + Exile Giveaway!

If you’re suffering from angel withdrawals now that the Unearthly series has ended, might I suggest the Mercy series by Australian author Rebecca Lim? It’s definitely among the more thoughtful angel books that I’ve read, and has a most unusual premise: Mercy has no memory of her life before, and wakes up in different human bodies that she must help.  One of the things I find unusual and fascinating about this series is the way Mercy hands out punishment to the wicked with such terrible justice. Literary Swoon, Day Three: Rebecca Lim

Photos courtesy of D. Sharon Pruitt and Rebecca Lim We’re continuing our countdown to Valentine’s Day with some of our favorite YA authors! Rebecca Lim’s Mercy is one of the most interesting and mature YA angel books available right now, and I really enjoyed its blend of suspense and supernatural. The hint of a blossoming romance is also very promising, so I was very pleased when Rebecca agreed to share her thoughts on a favorite romantic book as part of our Literary Swoon series. If you enjoy Rebecca’s choice, by the way, you should check out our Bookish Valentine’s Day Gift Guide. It happens to feature an item with a quote from this very memorable moment! It has wry humour, wit, restraint and elegance, but beneath it all,… Read more »

Mercy: review

Mercy by Rebecca Lim What if you were an angel in exile…but you had no memory of why you’d fallen? Mercy is a fallen angel who repeatedly wakes up in a new body following each time she’s helped someone through a personal crisis. She doesn’t know why she’s doomed to this existence, only that she must somehow try to better that person’s life while she’s there. This time, however, she wakes up as a foster child of a deeply troubled family, whose 18-year-old daughter Lauren has been missing for two years. The mystery unfolds slowly as Mercy and Ryan, the missing girl’s twin brother, follow various clues and interview different people who might know more than they volunteer about Lauren’s disappearance. The blend of suspense, romance, and the supernatural come together beautifully in this first book of a quietly dazzling new series. Mercy’s powers are extraordinary, but as a girl who… Read more »
