Mila 2.0: review & giveaway

Mila 2.0: review & giveaway

Title: Mila 2.0Author:Debra DrizaRating: 3.5 out of 5 starsRelease Date: March 12, 2013Publisher: Katherine Tegan BooksAge Group: YASource:ARC provided by the publisher GIRL ANDROID. That should probably be the extent of my review, because you can pretty much tell by your reaction to those two words whether or not this book is for you. If they get you nearly crazed with excitement (guilty! I’m raising my hand), you should probably just cancel your dinner plans for next week when the book is released. If you read the freebie short entitled Origins, you already know that a devastating fire has changed Mila’s life. As she’s trying to adjust to her life in a new home, she’s also suffering from memory loss–not a great way to start off at a new school. It’s not too long before Mila realizes that she’s not like other girls, however, and the threat of having her secret… Read more »

Jane Nickerson on Writing the Macabre + giveaway

Jane Nickerson on Writing the Macabre + giveaway

Today we’re pleased to welcome Jane Nickerson to the blog, author of the YA Bluebeard retelling Strands of Bronze and Gold!    This story begins as a fairy tale: 17-year-old Sophia Petherem is taken under the wing of the mysterious Monsieur Bernard de Cressac, and begins a new life with her guardian at Wyndriven Abbey. However, she gradually begins to realize that things are not quite as idyllic as they seem, and finds herself drawn into a sinister mystery and forbidden romance. Set in 19th century Mississippi, this book has a very southern gothic feel to it, and the ending chapters are quite dark.  As part of the official blog tour, Jane is here to talk about the macabre–and why a nice lady like her likes to read and write about such dastardly things.  ~ Wendy —————————————————- Jane Nickerson Guest Post How can such a nice person… A few years ago,… Read more »

In my review of last year’s Partials, I posted a handy check list to help readers decide whether the book was for them. If you’re a fan of well-written science fiction thrillers or post-apocalyptic novels with strong heroines, this series is one you should definitely check out! What do you need to know going into the sequel? — There are fantastic action sequences, full of taut suspense and emotion. — Survivalist enthusiasts will love it. During the first half of the book, Kira spends most of her time searching through rubble for clues to ParaGen’s involvement in the devastating events that decimated human society. — A mysterious character named Afa, who has… Read more »

If you haven’t picked this one up, you MUST do it immediately–the swoon factor is out of the stratosphere. Sarah graciously shares her favorite romantic scene with us below. Fair warning: spoilers may follow. ———————————————– Sarah Fine’s Favorite Romantic Scene I’m a sucker for complete surrender in a romance, especially when someone powerful is willing to lay him- or herself at the feet of the beloved. For that reason, some of my favorite romantic scenes come from Graceling by Kristin… Read more »
