Here’s a fun package that came my way recently–I love the cover, and the goodies tie in nicely to the travel theme. After Tonya’s glowing review for The Darkest Minds, I’m very excited to read Alexandra Bracken’s new book Passenger, which comes out right after the holidays!

You know we rarely do promo-only posts, but I like the author very much on social media–seriously, she tweets thoughtful and fun things, and her adorable puppy looks like a baby Chewbacca–and I knew a lot of our readers would be excited about this book, too. (Alex, if you’re reading this, I think you need this shirt for this Friday.)

We’re giving you an opportunity to win a copy of the book below, but first, here’s a little bit more about it:

About the Book

PassengerCoverIn one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles, but years from home. And she’s inherited a legacy she knows nothing about from a family whose existence she’s never heard of. Until now.

Nicholas Carter is content with his life at sea, free from the Ironwoods–a powerful family in the Colonies–and the servitude he’s known at their hands. But with the arrival of an unusual passenger on his ship comes the insistent pull of the past that he can’t escape and the family that won’t let him go so easily. Now the Ironwoods are searching for a stolen object of untold value, one they believe only Etta, his passenger, can find. In order to protect her, Nick must ensure she brings it back to them–whether she wants to or not.

Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by the traveler who will do anything to keep the object out of the Ironwoods’ grasp. But as they get closer to the truth of their search, and the deadly game the Ironwoods are playing, treacherous forces threaten to separate Etta not only from Nicholas but from her path home… forever.

I like the sound of the unusual setting, and the time-travel aspect intrigues me, too! I also love “treacherous forces” separating young lovers. :D What can I say, I love impossible romances.

I can’t wait to read Passenger because I love Alex’s books and this one looks so interesting! I love the cover! And it looks so pretty without it’s dust jacket! :-)

  2. Lisa @ Lost in Literature

I never read Darkest Minds because I honestly did think it was a book for me. It was hard not to read it when so many others were loving it so much. Passenger, however, sounds INCREDIBLE! It’s not my usual genre (I’m a total contemp girl) but I’ve been venturing out lately and finding so many incredible reads! I’m really looking forward to reading Passenger and discovering all of its awesomeness. :)

I love Alexandra Bracken’s writing! The Darkest Minds was fantastic and I can’t wait to read this one. :) I’m so excited about the sprawling setting (especially the “life at sea” dynamic!) and what I’m sure will be an incredible journey for these characters. Winning this giveaway would be a dream! Thanks for hosting it! :)

I am definitely interested in Passenger. I have read Darkest Minds and Never Fade and have In the Afterlight on my TBR shelf. I enjoyed her writing, but that story went a completely different direction that I was hoping it would. I’m not giving up on it yet though! Passenger sounds so intriguing and in fact it was my very first Waiting on Wednesday post I ever did (you can check that out here http://bit.ly/1OjHqPi).

I really love time travel, and this seems like such a carefully constructed world.

  20. Shannelle

Time traveling? And a violinist? I’ve definitely never done time travel, but I can say that I did fail spectacularly at the violin, and people doing better at it than I did is definitely something I want to read. And I’ll be binge-reading the TDM series this Christmas, so why not continue with her next book? :D
