Quotable YA: Marie Lu's Prodigy

I don't know about you, but I love a good book quote! I enjoy seeing which moments have resonated with other people, especially since there's such great writing in so many young adult titles. With social media, it's also really easy to share your quote love with friends.

This year, I thought it'd be fun to do a monthly button/badge featuring one book quote from a 2013 YA book that's being published that month! We're calling this Quotable YA, and this would function as both a teaser for an upcoming book that we'll likely by reviewing or giving away, as well as a little visual keepsake you can grab for your own blog, pin on Pinterest, share on Facebook, etc.

To kick off the series, here's a quote I like from Marie Lu's Prodigy, which comes out on January 29th. This sentence is spoken during an important moment during the climax of the book, and it's one that I hope they keep intact in the (eventual) film.

The Midnight Garden

Does this quote whet your appetite for the book? It's pretty powerful stuff, in my opinion. And like all the quotes I love best, it speaks to bigger issues and more universal feelings than just the situation that the character finds himself in.

Look for our full review of Prodigy in just a couple of weeks!

Grab the Quote

Feel free to copy the code to embed it on your blog, or just save the file from here and link back to us. And if you have suggestions for other quotes from 2013 books to feature in the coming months, please let us know.

Hope you enjoy this new feature! And happy, happy new year, everyone.

And yeah, we were pretty sporadic last year, but we're going to try to start fresh. It helps that there are so many books we're excited about for 2013. :)

    1. Yeah, I like a lot of moments I find in books, but I tend to only collect (for GoodReads, etc) the ones that are a bit more universal in feeling. :) I'm glad you like the quote!

    1. Yay, a fellow Prodigy fan! And thanks, it's harder to find quotes from more recent YA books in graphic form, so I thought this might be a fun thing to do. :)

  14. What a great idea! I'm actually reviewing Prodigy on my blog tomorrow so I will link up to your post too! If memory serves, the quote came from Day's speech in LA, correct? Boy, he really held everyone in the palm of his hand after delivering that speech, no? )

  15. I LOVE quotes! I often put my favorites at the end of my reviews because I've found that in the past, seeing a teaser or quote from a book I was interested in reading pushed me to the point of actually sitting down with the book instead of letting it be forgotten on my TBR list. I love this idea and look forward to future quotable posts!

made Adam Silvera pick up the books on his shelf, hah. So funny.

  17. I read Legend and loved it, then I got the lucky opportunity to read Prodigy back in August, and I was blown away. I don't think I've liked a Dystopian series as much as I have since the Hunger Games. Marie Lu's writing is strong, and I love how the romance doesn't overpower the political themes that get young adults thinking about world issues. This is another January release I'm excited for!

    1. I think the series is just plain fun, Penny--I enjoy the action in it, and I think the character development was done well in the sequel. Completely agree with you that though the romance is strong, it doesn't overshadow the main story arc. Yay for sequels that live up to/exceed the originals!
