young adult literature...for adults
I'be never heard of this book, or the series. It definitely sounds worth a try, considering how much it aGDR Ted you. Great review!
Wow. That was a gorgeous review! How am I not at all familiar with this book or the one before it? That is a tragedy I tell you! I have to say I adore flawed and vulnerable characters, they suck me in and make me fall in love with them every time, so I think this would be a good series for me!
This series sounds lovely. I had never heard of it before. I'm going to look it up on GR right now....
This book sounds so absolutely beautiful, Wendy! <3 I haven't even heard of This Is Shyness before, but reading your review makes me wonder why I don't have it on my TBR list already. The characters (Wolfboy and Wildgirl -- I honestly love their names!) sound perfect, the writing sounds flawless, and the storyline sounds like a breathtaking dream! Truly beautiful review, Wendy! :) YAY for sequels that take awesome to a whole new level!
I wish I could take credit for this lovely review, Mimi, but it was actually written by Reynje! I've been thinking about adding signatures to our posts for awhile, I think that would probably help with some of the confusion. :) Thanks for your comment, though!
Hi Reynje! Wow you knocked that review out of the blogosphere. Beautiful. I would love to tumble down the rabbit hole and explore dreams. I also love reading Aussie books. Sadly I clicked on the link, only to find of course, that this book is out of print in the U.S.. Why do they torture us so? I will keep this on my wish list and hope that someday I can get a copy!
Great review!Makes me wanna go read it now. @Heidi, have you checked fishpond.com? They ship worldwide for free and they usually have all the Aussie books that you can't find on reg book sites like amazon or B&N.
Your review is as beautiful as the book, Rey <3
Never heard of this book but you make me want to read it! Thank you for sharing!!
This is such a beautiful review, Reynje, of what sounds like a beautiful book. I've had This is Shyness on my radar for sometime now, I think I may have to consider placing a big Fishpond order soon!
I'll be putting this on my GR shelf...very lovely review, Reynje!
Thanks for all the lovely comments! I'm glad you enjoyed the review. Leanne Hall is fast becoming one of my favourite Australian writers, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. This is Shyness and Queen of the Night are both really unusual books - but if you're looking for something different, I definitely recommend them both :)
Beautiful review! I've never heard of these books, but I'll definitely be checking them out now!
I've never heard of this series, but the writing and characters sound wonderful. I haven't read too many books from Aussie authors but the ones I've read have all been pretty good so I'll definitely have check this one out.
Wonderful review, Reynje! I haven't heard about this series before, so thanks for putting it on my radar! :) You did a great job explaining what you loved about this book, thanks so much!
Thanks! It's always tough reviewing books you really love. I hope if you get the chance to read this series you enjoy them :)
Ooh I think I missed this on Goodreads. I've never heard of this series before but it sounds really good and i Love the way the characters are described. Aussie books rarely disappoint, eh!? :)
Oh my goodness... this isn't a review, it's poetry. Perfect! Oh goodness... if "Leanne Hall’s writing is incredibly beautiful. For me, it’s just the right blend of lyrical and local," give yourself a pat on the back, because... seriously! Ah!OK, I knew nothing about this book, OR this series before, but it sounds AMAZING, and I'd really love to start reading more Australian fiction. Stunningly beautiful review, Reyjne! A work of art does the work of art justice ;)
