more about Wendy + February update

February 2, 2012 2012, fun links, site annoucements, Wendy 35

Hi everyone! Things are a bit nutty right now since I’m on travel at the moment, but I wanted to post a quick update.

First of all, the lovely Missie over at The Unread Reader invited me to do a guest post on her blog. Check out her site today if you’re curious what I get up to When I’m Not Reading! There may or may not be talk of strawberry tarts and James Bond. Ahem.

We also have oodles of fun Valentine’s stuff coming up for The Midnight Garden. Do you have a bookish valentine to buy for? Curious about the novels your favorite YA authors might find romantic? You’ll find that here and more over the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Those views are really spectacular! It’s nice getting to know the woman behind the blog a little bit. Now, where can I get an illegally bacon-wrapped hot dog?

    • Wendy Darling

I know, I am constantly in awe of how beautiful California can be. If you want an illegal hot dog, all you have to do is go to downtown L.A. and look for the Mexican street vendors…those hot dogs are topped with pico de gallo, avocado, grilled onions, cilantro, MAYO, and ketchup. o.O To die for! (Possibly literally, hah!)

Thanks so much for having me, Missie! It was a ton of fun to do. :) We’ll have to have you on The Midnight Garden blog sometime soon, too!

Hmm….a Bond and a Batman? Someday I’ll have to get out of you which ones! Funny we were just talking about Huntington Gardens just yesterday. Also love the Greystone manor. How did you end up with three cats, Wendy? I also have three cats. Didn’t plan on it but I couldn’t resist rescuing a stray. My husband threatens divorce if I bring anymore in. :).

Lovely post. Was nice to get to you a little better.

    • Wendy Darling

Hah, yes I was giggling when you mentioned Huntington on Twitter yesterday. :) I love cats, but believe it or not, my husband is the one who keeps bringing them home.

      Love to you, Miss Rachel!

    • Wendy Darling

Not so much for pleasure, but as you know…you can find pleasure pretty much anywhere you go. :) Thanks for stopping by, Andrea!

Many of the Mexican street vendors in L.A. wrap their hot dogs in bacon and grill it with onions and hot peppers. You can then top it with pico de gallo, avocado, cilantro, MAYO, and ketchup. Arrgggh, I want one now!

Your post on Missie’s blog was fantastic! You’re a talented lady. Loved the look of that tart. And the kitty pic was adorable! Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to see what you have in store for Valentines Day!

  4. Mimi Valentine

*beams* I was just over at Missie’s blog and I absolutely LOVED your post, Wendy!! <3 Those pictures you took, your amazing decorative skills (both with edible and non-edible things alike!), the spunk you put into writing it... It was so much fun to read! :)

And YAY for Valentine’s Day! I’m really excited to see what you have planned, Wendy — you’ve got me intrigued! ;)

  5. Book Chelle

Can’t wait to see what romantic reads you will suggest. I’m always looking for books to give to my book club.

Envious that you have been kissed by a Bond AND a Batman! Great post. :)

    • Wendy Darling

I’ve found some new books for my TBR list through doing this, BC, so hopefully you’ll find the February posts helpful, too! And thank you. :)

First the cupcakes and now the strawberry tart … stop trying to make me hungry! Oh, and I love your cat (and cats in general; total cat person here).

  7. Amy

That was a great post. That strawberry tart looked really yummy!! I look forward to see the posts that you have planned for February. :)

OMG, Wendy, that post was adorable! You really should give us some clues as to which Bond and Batman! :) And don’t feel bad, I get harassed for reading all the time, too…

    • Wendy Darling

Hah! Um…well, the Bond is tall, dark, and handsome. And so is the Batman. Does that help? :D

As far as reading a lot–I regret NOTHING!

    • Wendy Darling

I loved your feature, Miss Jenny…I don’t have anything nearly as exciting as pictures of me on horseback, but I was happy to be asked all the same!

  9. Sam

Strawberry tarts AND James Bond? I MUST check that out! Looking forward to the Valentine’s stuff. :)
