Cheers to 2012…and introducing new Midnight Garden bloggers!

–> Happy New Year, dear readers!
As we head into 2012, The Midnight Garden is kicking into high gear with lots of new features, including giveaways, author interviews, more ARC tours, and tons of other fun stuff. Don’t forget to stay in touch with us via Google Friend Connect, Facebook, or through the RSS feed!

I’m also very excited that several reviewers from around the world whose taste, humor, and writing I absolutely love are joining the blog as contributing writers. You’ll be seeing a nice variety of voices from here on out, and I hope that our blend of thoughtfully-considered reviews and other tasty tidbits will be the start of a lot of great conversations.

Please say hello to my lovely fellow bloggers, who have all written a short introduction below.

Wendy, from Los Angeles, California, USA

Reynje, Melbourne, Australia

The Reviewer Currently Known as Reynje is a twenty-something booklover from Melbourne, Australia. When she’s not reading, she can be found napping, procrastinating, lurking in bookstores, taking photographs and drinking too much coffee.

Reynje’s favourite Austen is Persuasion. She doesn’t leave the house without music. She is addicted to GoodReads and tumblr. She doesn’t know what she wants to be when she grows up. Her secret shame is her undying love of adverbs.

Reynje reads a little of everything, but has a particular love for contemporary Australian YA. Some her recent favourite books are: Graffiti Moon, All I Ever Wanted, On The Jellicoe Road, A Monster Calls, How To Save A Life.

**Reynje also took the three amazing photographs of her hometown included in this post!

K., Toronto, Canada

She collects lucky pennies, banknotes and paper labels from teabags. She likes the smell of ink on paper. She’s a night owl. She shoots film photography and still mails letters to friends. She can’t swim, whistle or make farting noises with her hands. She’d rather do it with Jennifer than Angelina (despite still being team Angelina). She’s an anglophile. She loves trains, Mac lipsticks and warm milk. She’s easy to amuse and difficult to bore. She plays with matches. She plans to one day become a flutist, a rock climber and a rider.

She’d rather read than sleep. She’s one to leave the house with one book in her bag, and come home with seven. She bought her copy of Pride and Prejudice at a flea market. She plans to pass down her copies of Harry Potter as future family heirloom. She has books on her nightstand, on the floor by her bed and between her pillow and the wall. She’s quite reasonable about purchasing and collecting books. She wipes books she borrows from the library. She circles typos on books she borrows from the library. She’s a paper book purist (despite recently deciding to buy a kindle). She’s a contributing writer in a really awesome book blog.

Look for Reynje, Leanne, and K.’s first reviews to be posted here on the blog very soon. Happy 2012, everyone! Do you have exciting news of your own to share? Cheers to lots of great reads for us all!
